Pulse makes temporary move to Dallas

September 22, 2005

HOUSTON - In anticipation of the arrival of Hurricane Rita, Pulse EFT Association Inc., one of the nation's leading electronic funds transfer networks, has transitioned its Houston processing platform to its operations center in Dallas, according to a news release.

Pulse executive vice president Cindy Ballard said in the release that the move is a precautionary measure.

In 2003, Pulse established dual processing platforms in Houston and Dallas; this move will take advantage of those dual platforms, which enable identical operations from either location.

The PULSE switch is operating normally in its Dallas facility and should continue to provide uninterrupted service throughout the hurricane, Ballard said.

Pulse, a Discover Financial Services LLC company, serves more than 4,100 financial institutions in the United States. The network links an estimated 90 million cardholders with more than 250,000 ATMs and 3.2 million POS terminals.
