Procomp earns big Latin American contracts for Diebold

SAO PAULO, Brazil -- Procomp, subsidiary ofDiebold, Incorporated(NYSE:DBD) attained first quarter sales of more than $42 million for self-service products, software and services. Acquired in 1999, Procomp has been the leading self-service provider in Brazil for more than 10 years, and has helped Diebold attain a position of market leadership in Latin America.

First quarter contracts obtained in Brazil by Procomp include:

  • Banco Bandeirantes for branch technology upgrades including nearly 240 branch servers and 2,000 teller terminals. In addition, the financial institution purchased 700 cash dispensers from Procomp. Installation of the equipment is anticipated to begin in June 2001 and be completed in September 2001.
  • Banco Real/ABN AMRO Brasil purchased teller terminal hardware, including computers and peripherals in order to renovate all of its branches throughout Brazil. The 12,500 pieces of equipment will be installed in the bank's 1,200 facilities by third quarter 2001.
  • Bradesco purchased more than 2,000 advanced-function ATMs, cash dispensers and depository units. A portion of the terminals will be used within Bradesco branches throughout Brazil and the remainder will be deployed to off-premises locations.
  • Caixa Federal, a Procomp customer for more than six years, has purchased more than 700 cash dispensers. Installation of the terminals is anticipated to begin in July 2001 and be completed in September 2001.
  • Unibanco purchased 700 Express Delivery units from Procomp. The units were adapted using the customer's specifications, and installed to enhance productivity and increase branch security. Additionally, Unibanco purchased 350 Accutrack digital video servers, which were engineered and installed by Procomp to satisfy the bank's specific requirements.

"Procomp is providing us with significant, measurable results -- both in terms of increased customer satisfaction and the company's overall performance," said Ernesto Unanue, vice president and managing director of Diebold Latin America.

Procomp employs nearly 3,000 associates and operates more than 150 service locations throughout Brazil. In 2000, the company posted gross revenues of $350 million.
