Positive results prompt German FI to add more cash recycling ATMs

Berliner Volksbank is adding more Cineo cash recycling ATMs at high-traffic branches, and converting standard ATMs to enable cash recycling at other branches, Wincor Nixdorf says.

Having first installed Cineo cash recycling systems in half of its branches, Germany's Berliner Volksbank has determined that the results merit adding 57 more of the Wincor Nixdorf systems, according to a company press release

With the number of deposits at self-service systems on the rise, the FI decided to increase the number of cash recyclers at high-traffic branches and replace standard ATMs with Cineo systems at other branches, the release said. Once all the new devices have been installed, Berliner Volksbank will have 135 cash recycling systems in operation.

Cash recyclers need to be replenished less frequently, allowing the bank to reduce the cost and time involved in cash handling by approximately one-third, according to Wincor. Business customers gain the convenience round-the-clock deposits while personal banking customers gain higher machine availability, with fewer outages caused by full cash cassettes.

"Customer satisfaction knows no opening hours, and we’re consciously investing in a convenient self-service infrastructure in the interest of our customers," Berliner Volksbank head of IT Jörg Bauske said in the release. "Wincor Nixdorf is helping us here by providing the right high-quality solutions."
