August 21, 2008
St. Louis Post-Dispatch: Recently laid-off workers from Chrysler's automotive plant in Fenton, Mo., are worried that changes to Missouri's unemployment system might reduce the benefits plant workers receive.Missouri is one of more than 20 states to turn to debit cards as the preferred method of distributing unemployment claims to those who end up jobless. The rollout of the state's new system just happened to coincide with layoffs for hundreds of Fenton-area autoworkers, so they were among the first to find out how the new system works.
