Rep. Liz Hanbridge and House Communications and Technology Committee Majority Chair Joe Ciresi of Pennsylvania introduced H.B. 2643 to regulate crypto ATMs. This bill will not ban crypto ATMs but will establish licensing and regulatory frameworks, according to a press release.
Under the bill, all crypto ATM operators would have to be licensed by the Department of Banking and Securities, and would have to establish daily transaction limits, fee caps, scam warnings, receipts and live customer support.
"Cryptocurrency ATMs have very little regulation or oversight, making it difficult to safeguard people from scammers who use them to take advantage of vulnerable people," Hanbridge said in the release. "This bill that Chairman Ciresi and I are introducing looks to change this and protect Pennsylvanians."
