Wells Fargo apologized Friday for a service outage that began around midday when customers found themselves unable to deposit checks via mobile or discovered that checks deposited at an ATM had not posted to their accounts.
The bank was still apologizing on Saturday afternoon, when it tweeted its fourth update on the ongoing problem:
Thank you for your continued patience while we work to resolve our issue with certain transactions, including Mobile Deposit. Our team is working diligently to correct the issue. We’ll provide another update once it has been resolved.

Some customers expressed annoyance that the bank had not notified them about the outage:
You do realize that not everyone is on twitter, right? If Wells Fargo has major outages effecting customers ability to get access to their money, or to deposit their money outside a bank branch, it's WF's responsibility to notify customers by email.

It is unacceptable that you kept ATM machines running when you knew deposits were not working. For you to let people across the company continue to deposit checks that will not appear in their accounts is criminal.

Others tweeted their frustration at being unable to withdraw funds from paychecks they had deposited:
What are you planning on doing for the families relying on there paycheck to get through the weekend for food and necessities for their children ? Nothing right? Work hard to provide for your family and the bank loses your money and now your family suffers. Heartless

I hope this is fixed by tomorrow. My husband deposited his check and it's not showing up online that he deposited anything. We go on vacation in the morning and have no cash 😑
