Oregon bank rolls out ATMs in groceries

February 25, 2002

ROSEBURG, Ore.-- South Umpqua Bank announced it will roll out ATMs in Price Chopper grocery stores throughout southern Oregon and the mid-Willamette Valley.

Price Chopper, which was previously contracting with Bank of America for ATM service, put the contract up for bid in August. In November the company decided to partner with South Umpqua.

"We selected South Umpqua because they offered unique ideas about how we can do business together," says Dick Wright, owner of Wright's Foodliner Inc., Price Chopper's parent company. "We're both committed to expanding the services we make available to our customers. We believe it's a good match."

Installation of ATMs will be completed by the end of January. All machines will be located inside the store.

South Umpqua Bank is an Oregon banking corporation chartered in 1953 and headquartered in Roseburg. The bank has 11 branch offices in Douglas and Lane Counties and reports assets of $319 million.
