OptConnect intros Portal online wireless portfolio manager

Wireless ATM connectivity solutions provider OptConnect has rolled out OptConnect Portal, a new online wireless device portfolio management system. The cloud-based system allows users to monitor and remotely control OptConnect wireless gateway devices from any Internet-enabled device.

"[W]e are really excited to introduce our latest innovation to the ATM industry," said Chris Baird, executive vice president of OptConnect. "By putting control in our customers' hands, we feel the OptConnect Portal will prove valuable in maximizing ATM uptime, minimizing organizations' operating expenses, and providing a more sophisticated set of tools for customers to manage their OptConnect device portfolio." 

OptConnect Portal features include:

  • management of an entire wireless portfolio — view and distinguish OptConnect devices using detailed information that includes device model numbers, serial numbers, associated ATM terminal IDs and descriptions;
  • signal strength monitoring — troubleshoot cell signal strength issues using a graphical representation of current and historical wireless signal strength data.
  • automated notifications — set up automated email notifications about communication issues for quick resolution of connectivity problems.
  • remote device reset — re-initialize OptConnect devices from any Internet-enabled device, eliminating the need for a service call and onsite visit. 
  • Mobile access — use with any Internet-enabled smartphone, tablet or computer.

OptConnect Portal architecture is designed to accommodate technology expansion, said Patrick Charles, CTO for OptConnect parent company Grant Victor.

"The OptConnect Portal is a continually evolving platform for machine-to-machine device management and control, which is bringing new features and functions to our customers, not only in the ATM market, but also in related industry segments and verticals. It's an integral piece of our technology offering."

A pre-launch survey of beta users conducted yielded the following results: 

  • 100 percent of respondents said OptConnect Portal was effective in helping them manage their portfolio of OptConnect wireless devices;
  • 86 percent of respondents said that OptConnect Portal was effective at identifying communication issues; and
  • 79 percent of respondents reported saving money on a monthly basis due to lower operating costs and reduced ATM downtime.

The OptConnect Portal is available in two access level options, basic and premium.
