(Pakistan) Daily Times: Pakistan's commercial banks have registered a growth of 45 percent in online banking for the second quarter of fiscal year 2005-2006, the State Bank of Pakistan said April 24. The main reason for the growth: the value of real-time online funds transfers. Banks also saw an increase in ATMs, adding 75 new machines to their network. The number of ATMs on the network is now 1,217, a 6.6 percent from the previous quarter. And while the country's number of ATM cards dropped 21 percent - because of convergence of ATM cards into debit or smart cards - the total number of smart is up 10 percent.
