On Whistler Mountain, cash is just a schuss away

January 13, 2017

Toronto, Canada-based CIBC has opened a first-of-its-kind mountaintop ski-through ATM outside the Roundhouse Lodge on Whistler Mountain, a popular destination for skiers in British Columbia, Canada.

The ATM, which has been thoughtfully equipped with ski pole and glove holders and heating lamps, is part of a new five-year partnership with the Whistler Blackcomb resort, according to a press release.

"CIBC is always looking to improve our clients' experience, whether in a banking center or on the slopes, and our new ski-through ATM at Whistler Blackcomb is just one of the many ways we're reaching clients at new heights," Stephen Forbes, chief commercial officer at CIBC, said in the release.

CIBC ATMs are also installed in the resort's two "guest satisfaction centers," however, the ski-through facility offers additional convenience for skiers who want to make purchases from cash-only vendors at the summit before schussing back down the slopes.

"CIBC is Whistler Blackcomb's first ever full-service banking partner and their commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences aligns perfectly with our goals," said Morag Kerr, strategic alliances and partner marketing manager at the resort. "We look forward to working with CIBC to better service our guests in unique and exciting ways as we move forward."

The ski-through ATM will be active throughout the 2017 ski season, the release said.
