The number one ATM manufacturer in the U.S., based on 2000 shipment numbers recently released by the Nilson Report, is Diebold. The North Canton, Ohio-based company shipped a total of 13,634 units, a 10 percent increase over 1999.
Dieboldshipped 4,048 full-function ATMs and 9,586 cash dispensers.
In second place is Tidel, with 12,723 units, an increase of 56 percent over 1999. Rounding out the top five are NCR with 10,400 units, Tritonwith 9,613 units and Cross International Technologies with 8,670 units. Cross was second to Tidel in terms of growth, with a 40 percent increase over its 1999 numbers.
While 2000 was a good year for cash dispensers, with a 27 percent increase over total units shipped in 1999, ATM shipments declined by 6 percent. Only 7,776 ATMs were shipped in 2000, compared to 53,059 cash dispensers.
The combined total of ATMs and cash dispensers shipped was 60,835, a 21 percent increase.
