New tech partnership to develop 'tattoo-like' payment wearables

Paired with a smartphone, tablet, or NFC reader, the Wearable Interactive Stamp Platform will support applications such as cashless payments and event registration, say partners MC10 Inc. and PCH.

MC10 Inc., a company specializing in stretchable body-worn computing systems, and PCH, a designer of custom products, have entered into a partnership to commercialize the MC10 Wearable Interactive Stamp Platform. The partnership will allow brands to develop consumer applications for the platform, according to a press release.

Paired with a smartphone, tablet, or near field communication reader, the "WiSP" platform can facilitate applications such as cashless payments, hotel room access, and event registration.

To maintain the security of the stored information, the breathable, waterproof stamp is designed to tear and become unreadable upon removal, the release said.

"We are excited to partner with PCH to expand the reach of MC10's body-worn electronics globally,"said MC10 President and CEO Scott Pomerantz. "PCH's experience working with leading consumer brands, and their ability to commercialize the technology, will accelerate development of new applications within a variety of industries for skin-worn wearables."

PCH will work with third-party brands to customize the technology and develop new consumer applications, the release said.
