New LED technology reduces cost of a fully illuminated ATM surround by up to 50%

November 7, 2013

Fully illuminated ATM wall surrounds used by major banks such as Wells Fargo and Chase are extremely complicated and costly to fabricate, requiring detailed site surveys to determine the exact location for the ATM opening and the LEDs behind the acrylic. In addition, ATMs usually need to move forward to accommodate the LEDs, resulting in expensive on-site construction.

A new LED technology allows banks without the budget for a highly customized solution to achieve the same high-impact branding at a much-reduced price.Sterling ATM, a Salt Lake City-based maker of ATM surrounds, has developed a fully illuminated surround technology that uses edge-light LED panels. The patent-pending approach can reduce the cost of fabricating and installing a fully illuminated wall surround by as much as 50 percent, the company said.

The surround design uses panels that reduce the depth needed for even illumination by half. The solution also enables the ATM opening to be cut anywhere within the illuminated area on site, reducing the need for elaborate site surveys.

Sterling ATM is a turnkey designer, manufacturer and installer of ATM surrounds, toppers, canopies, kiosks and enclosures.
