NedBank rolls out NCR Interactive Teller in bid to enhance efficiency, service

December 9, 2016

NCR Corp. has teamed with Nedbank, one of South Africa's largest financial institutions, to introduce NCR Interactive Teller.

According to a press release, Nedbank will be the first FI in the nation to implement the company's remote video teller ATM technology, which will allow customers to complete up to 80 percent of transactions typically completed inside the branch at an ATM, including cash withdrawals above the daily limit, cash deposits, check cashing and deposit, credit card payments and money transfers.

NCR Interactive Teller enables a centrally located teller to take full remote control of all modules on a specially equipped ATM while engaging the customer in a two-way, real-time video conversation. The technology allows FIs to serve customers at all hours and across multiple sites without incurring traditional branch expenses, the company said.

"With NCR Interactive Teller, we are actually increasing access to banking services using technology, while maintaining the comfort of human interaction,” said Nedbank self-service banking executive Preni Naidoo. "This initiative will offer our employees additional time to better serve customers with more complex banking needs, and allow us to offer clients the convenience they need every day of the year."

NCR also has integrated its Interactive Banker tablet banking software to help Nedbank boost efficiency and profits, the release said. Interactive Banker untethers staff from their desks by giving them a mobile universal banker app that allows them to view multiple live transactions underway in the branch, including customer account details.

As a result, staff can act promptly to provide assistance is precisely targeted to the customer’s needs, as well as real-time information on cross-selling opportunities, according to NCR.
