Nebraska's largest CU aims to get bigger faster

November 13, 2013

SAC Federal Credit Union of Bellevue, Neb., has grown its assets by an annual average rate of 16 percent over the last three years to become Nebraska's largest credit union. This success has allowed the FI to offer lower member rates and build a new headquarters — and now implement new technology, as well.

The $670 million asset credit union is implementing the DNA account processing platform and surrounding solutions from Fiserv Inc. in an effort to attract additional new members and expand relationships with the 75,000 members it currently serves, a news release from Fiserv said.

"DNA will empower us to serve members with the latest technological innovations, setting the stage for our continued growth towards the $1 billion asset mark," said Gail L. DeBoer, president and CEO of SAC FCU. "Our membership will benefit from real-time channel integration with DNA. Plus, we can more quickly offer meaningful financial service products and services to meet their needs and attract new members."

DNA is the first open, person-centric core banking platform built for collaboration, the companies said. With DNA, SAC FCU gains 24/7 real-time processing, robust retail, mortgage and commercial banking capabilities, and a 360-degree view of its retail and business relationships, the release said.

The FCU can also use the DNAcreator development toolkit to create integrated, custom core extensions called DNAapps that add further functionality, screens and processes to DNA. These DNAapps can then be sold to other financial institutions through the DNAappstore, an online marketplace for custom core applications.

In addition to DNA, SAC FCU will implement ATM Solutions, Nautilus enterprise content management, Profitability Analysis, Velocity loan origination, and the CRM/BI suite for DNA. The credit union will integrate its existing operations into the open architecture of DNA.
