TOKYO -- NCR Japan Ltd. will set up a firm in December to develop,
market and operate ATMs and cash dispensers, company officials said. The company will transfer its ATM operations, except for some development functions, to the new firm along with about 400 employees.
The move is aimed at selling terminals made by other firms and winning comprehensive orders to monitor and operate bank ATMs.
NCR Japan plans to take a stake of only 20-40% in the new firm's planned 500 million yen capital and will solicit the balance from financial institutions and terminal manufacturers.
The company projects first-year sales at 12 billion yen, excluding ATM operations for financial institutions.
