DAYTON, Ohio - NCR Corp. is expected to open an ATM manufacturing plant in Budapest, Hungary, according to a news release. The plant, NCR's sixth regional manufacturing facility, will support the expanding markets of Eastern Europe and Russia.
NCR's other regional manufacturing plants are located in Dundee, Scotland; Waterloo, Canada; Beijing; Pondicherry, India and São Paulo, Brazil.
The plant will complement NCR's manufacturing in Dundee, Scotland, where ATM production has reached record levels for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
Production is slated to begin in Budapest in December 2005 with the manufacture of NCR's Personas 87 ATM. The Personas 87 will provide cash-dispensing and no-envelope deposit functions for customers in Eastern Europe and Russia.
"Our regional manufacturing strategy plays an important role in enabling NCR to get our product to the customer faster and more efficiently," said Keith Taylor, senior vice president of NCR's Financial Solutions division. "The demand we are seeing in Eastern Europe continues to push our Dundee manufacturing operations to capacity. We need a new facility physically closer to Eastern Europe markets to meet and manage that additional demand and, at the same time, lower our shipping costs. Hungary has excellent transport links and infrastructure."
