NCR Corp. yesterday announced that it will deploy hundreds of intelligent-deposit ATMs with Chase Bank, the nation’s second-largest bank owner of ATMs. The rollout is scheduled to occur this year.
The deployment will include ATMs equipped with NCR’s next-generation Scalable Deposit Module (SDM) technology. The technology enables consumers to deposit both cash and checks simultaneously through a single slot.
With SDM, a typical consumer transaction of five bank notes and two checks can take less than 60 seconds to deposit. SDM improves the experience for small and medium businesses, such as doctors and small business owners, who on average deposit between 12-20 checks and/or 25-30 notes per transaction, the company said.
Through SDM technology, customers who make multiple deposits benefit from a quick and reliable transaction outside the branch, NCR officials said. New York-based Chase operates more than 16,000 ATMs. The company owns 5,100 branches.
NCR, which is based in Duluth, Ga., is the world’s largest ATM manufacturer based on annual shipments.
