NCR receives Frost & Sullivan's Market Engineering Leadership Award

February 11, 2002

NEW YORK -- Frost & Sullivan announced that NCR Corporation has been selected to receive its 2001 Market Engineering Leadership Award, highlighting the company's sustained leadership in the European ATMmarket.

Frost and Sullivan awards the honor to the company that has exhibited market share leadership through the implementation of market engineering strategy.

According to a news release, NCR was selected based on an in-depth industry study tracking competitor revenue and market share within the financial self-service industry. Companies were ranked following a series of interviews with all market participants and extensive secondary research of proprietary data sources.

The study projected NCR in a strategic position to achieve a market share of 38 percent in 2001, with a 13-point advantage over its nearest competitor, German manufacturer Wincor Nixdorf.

"NCR has shown excellence in all areas of the Market Engineering process. This includes identification of the market dynamics and the successful adoption of a strategy to address market challenges, drivers and restraints," said Michelle Bone, Frost & Sullivan industry analyst.

Christophe Primault, vice president of Global Marketing of NCR's Financial Solutions Division, said, "We are proud of our strong leadership position and have no intention of relinquishing it. One business deal that gave us particular satisfaction in 2001 was a $45 million multi-year agreement with a large Central European commercial bank. Our strength is that we work with our customers and invest to ensure we are in a position to meet their current and future requirements."
