With construction of its new Midtown Atlanta world headquarters not even slated for completion until 2018, NCR Corp. has announced plans to expand the facility with the addition of a second tower. The additional building will provide the space needed to accommodate future growth, a company press release said.
NCR, the Georgia Department of Economic Development, and Invest Atlanta have agreed on incentives that will assist NCR in attracting more than 1,800 additional skilled professionals to Georgia over the next five years and invest $145 million in the second tower.
NCR and Cousins Properties have entered into a long-term, build-to-suit lease for the second tower, which will be owned and developed by Cousins, as is the first tower on the NCR campus.
"We are building a work environment that mirrors the innovative, connected experiences we create for our customers every day," NCR President, CEO and Chairman Bill Nuti said in the release. "Our campus will provide a world-class work environment for all of our metro Atlanta employees and become a technology landmark in one of the city's fastest growing sections."
Construction on phase I of the project, which features a 20-story tower, is underway and scheduled for completion in Q1 2018. Phase II, currently on the drafting table, will feature a connecting 14-story office tower to be ready for occupancy in Q1 2019, the release said.
The campus will feature amenities that include dining options and outdoor seating, a coffee bar, gym, informal spaces and a large lecture space.
