Nationwide, NCR team to improve ATM availability

The British building society will deploy NCR SmartServ Predict in order to anticipate ATM maintenance issues and prevent unnecessary downtime.

NCR Corp. and Nationwide Building Society have reached an agreement under which the FI will deploy NCR SmartServ Predict software across its entire ATM estate.

SmartServ Predict anticipates problems with ATM components before they happen and dispatches technicians before a machine breaks down, thus minimizing downtime and improving the customer experience, an NCR press release said.

Predictive services have so far been deployed at Nationwide ATMs across the South West, Wales and South Coast regions of the U.K., with implementation across the entire Nationwide ATM estate and 694 branches planned for 2016.

"Great customer service and operational excellence are at the heart of many businesses, and Nationwide aims to lead the way in this regard," said Jenny Groves, divisional director of branch and workplace transformation at the FI. "What is rare is to find an innovative solution to help address both challenges. NCR SmartServ Predict is one such solution, and we look forward to the potential as we scale it out across our wider ATM network in 2016."
