National Bank of Pakistan, one of that country's largest commercial FIs, has teamed with Diebold Inc. to add 500 Diebold 5500 ATMs. The company also will provide full maintenance services through its local partner, Touchpoint.
The 5500, part of the recently announced Diebold Series ATM platform, delivers energy savings of up to 60 percent for lower cost of ownership, a press release said.
Additionally, the units offer strong security against physical and logical attacks as well as advanced capabilities such as biometric authentication.
"It was our priority to select a partner able to provide our bank with the state-of-the art solutions needed to enhance NBP's technology, improve the customer experience and, ultimately, offer better services to our customers across Pakistan," said Tariq Jamali, a senior executive vice president at NBP.
The State Bank of Pakistan recently announced new regulations that require all banks in the country to achieve a 1-to-1 ratio between ATMs and branches. National Bank of Pakistan operates more than 1,400 branches in-country.
