Nairobi bank courts commercial customers with mobile cash deposit service

June 1, 2018

Kenya's Prime Bank has launched a mobile cash pickup service intended to attract business from commercial customers in the nation's cash-intensive retail, hospitality and fuel sectors.

A report by Business Daily Africa said that, based on the success of Prime Bank's first mobile cash pickup van, which launched in March, the institution will launch two more "smart trucks" to serve additional parts of the capital city Nairobi.

Speaking at a charity event, a bank representative said that Prime Bank customers who use the smart trucks instead of carrying money to the bank themselves realize "huge savings" on security.

In addition to cash pickup, the automated cash deposit machines on wheels provide branch banking services that include account inquiries, statements and cash withdrawals, the report said.
