FORT WORTH, Texas -- Mr. Payroll Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cash America International, Inc., announced plans to deploy its self-service check cashing machines at Houston-area stores owned by H-E-B Grocery Company, the nation's 12th largest food retailer.
Initially, the two companies will collaborate on a 10-machine program involving H-E-B Pantry Foods stores -- smaller outlets known for their convenience and low prices. Installations are set for mid-February.
Mr. Payroll Corporation, a leading provider of electronic financial services to the underbanked, has deployed machines in 19 states.
H-E-B, based in San Antonio, operates more than 250 stores in Texas, as well as Louisiana and Mexico. Sales totaled nearly $7 billion in 1998.
