Mosque makes history with new service

New Straits Times' JohorBuzz reports that Masjid Jamek Bandar Baru Uda, a mosque in Johor Baru, is the first mosque to be equipped with an electronic banking center, which includes ATMs.
According the news story from JohorBuzz, the EBC has two ATMs provided by Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd:
"The ATM is operational 24 hours (and) comes under the Malaysian Electronic Payment System," said mosque committee treasurer Hussein Ismail.
In addition to cash withdrawals, consumers can make bill and credit card payments.
The mosque is expected to offer banking convenience through its addition of the EBC, since residents previously had to travel far to the nearest Bank Islam branch.
