Mississippi FCU, Dolphin Debit tie up in branding deal

Traffic at the 18 newly added units rivals that of some branch ATMs, the FCU says.

April 24, 2015

Keesler Federal Credit Union of Biloxi, Mississippi has instantly expanded its ATM footprint as the result of an agreement with ATM management provider Dolphin Debit, according to a press release from the IAD.

Dolphin Debit has branded a total of 18 ATMs for Keesler FCU, including eight at Murphy USA fuel stations in southern Mississippi, and 10 at CVS Pharmacy outlets in southeastern Louisiana. These new ATMs are in addition to the 38 units that Keesler already owns and operates.

Keesler and Dolphin Debit completed the Murphy USA placements in late 2014.

"Our members love the Murphy ATMs," said Jeff Gerard, senior vice president and chief operations officer at Keesler FCU. "These machines consistently show heavy usage by our members, as well as from members of other credit unions, since they are part of the CU24 network."

Gerard said that use of these machines rivals that of its branch ATMs in some instances.

In addition to the Murphy USA locations, Keesler branded ATMs at 10 CVS Pharmacy outlets north of New Orleans. The FCU has branches in Slidell, Louisiana, and at the John C. Stennis Space Center in Louisiana. The CVS locations are convenient for those members, the release said.

"The CVS locations help us expand our SEG groups in Louisiana because our members know they have surcharge-free ATMs nearby," Gerard said.

Dolphin Debit has also provided Keesler with mobile ATMs for special events, such as the recent air show at Keesler Air Force Base.

"We use the Dolphin mobile ATMs for events, concerts, and fund-raisers," Gerard said. "We have found that we get great brand recognition with these ATMs, and members really appreciate them. At the air show, these ATMs dispensed more than $100,000 in two days. It really is a good PR move for us."

Keesler, a $2.2 billion credit union with 188,000 members, was founded in 1947 to serve military members of Keesler Air Force Base. It has since expanded its member base to include more than 300 select employee groups and residents of five Mississippi counties.
