Midwest Bancard spins off ATM business, intros new ATM

January 30, 2003

CHICAGO -- Midwest Bancard Corporation, a credit card processor, says that it has spun off its ATM business, which includes ATM manufacturing and processing divisions. The ATM company will now be known as Qualtex.

According to a news release, Qualtex is launching its second-generation, through-the-wall cash dispenser under the name WeatherMaster.

Brad Zerman, Qualtex's president, said the new WeatherMaster is more rugged and weather resistant than the MBC1031 ATM, which the company began manufacturing in October of 2001. (See related story Taking on "the Ts")

Like the MBC1031, the WeatherMaster features a rear screen and keypad for accessing management functions and a rear slide-out tray for the dispenser and printer.

The WeatherMaster's cabinet is cast in solid stainless steel. The ATM measures just 19-and-a-half-inches in width, and it has a dual-bracket mounting system that allows for ease of installation in a small space.

According to the release, the WeatherMaster features a De La Rue MiniMech dispenser, Fujitsu thermal graphic printer, Lagard electronic lock and Kyocera color weatherized anti-glare LCD.

The WeatherMaster has an industry standard one-year parts warranty.

According to Zerman, Qualtex offers potential distributors a one-time $500 travel credit to visit the company's Chicago headquarters.
