Citizens has partnered with UStrive, a mentoring nonprofit, to provide college and career planning for students. The bank will offer virtual mentors to students on UStrive's platform, according to a press release.
The partnership will support 300 students with mentorship for the transition to higher education and careers. The bank and nonprofit aim to address the issue of low-income high school students having lower enrollment in postsecondary education than higher-income students.
"At a time when students need more support, exposure, and confidence to navigate what comes after high school, mentorship can be transformative," Michael J. Carter, founder and CEO of UStrive, said in the release. "This partnership is about more than volunteer hours. It is about building relationships that help young people see new possibilities for their future while also giving professionals a meaningful way to invest in the next generation."
The mentorship program will last from 9 to 13 months with a self-paced model for students.
