MasterCard qualifies UL personalization validation tool for US EMV card issuers

July 23, 2014

UL has announced the qualification of its Collis EMV Personalization Validation Tool (version 3.9.5) by MasterCard, including the U.S. common debit AID (i.e., the U.S. Maestro AID), the company announced in a news release.

Professional testing of personalized MasterCard EMV/PayPass cards is essential to ensure global card acceptance. In addition, debit MasterCard cards issued in the U.S. must support the MasterCard AID and the U.S. Maestro AID in order to fulfill unaffiliated network routing requirements mandated by Congress in the Durbin amendment to the Dodd-Frank Act.

The newly developed MasterCard card personalization validation module in the Collis tool determines whether MasterCard cards are correctly personalized according to the latest specifications, and includes U.S.-specific personalization profiles that ensure compliance with the Durbin legislation.

The new MasterCard CPV 7 module from UL ensures compliance with the following MasterCard standards:

  • M/Chip requirements, Sept. 20, 2013;
  • M/Chip personalization data specifications and profiles, June 28, 2013;
  • M/Chip card personalization standard profiles, June 28, 2013;
  • M/Chip card personalization U.S. market standard profiles, March 21, 2014;
  • PayPass M/Chip requirements April 10, 2014; and
  • PayPass personalization data specifications, version 1.9, June 2014.
