The Massachusetts Senate has passed an amendment to an economic development bill to ban crypto ATMs in the state. This in response to a wave of crypto ATM scams in the state and in the U.S. more generally, according to a report by WCVB.
Massachusetts residents lost more than $6 million in crypto ATM scams in 2025. The Massachusetts House did not include this ban in their version of the economic development plan and will use a conference committee to handle the differences between the two bills.
If passed and signed by Gov. Maura Healy, Massachusetts will join Indiana, Tennessee and Minnesota in banning crypto ATMs.
