March Networks intros purpose-built ATM surveillance camera

The self-contained MegaPX delivers high dynamic range image clarity to provide detailed video in all lighting conditions, the company says.

March Networks, a provider of intelligent IP video solutions for financial customers, has introduced the MegaPX ATM camera, which it says is the industry's first self-contained, covert IP camera with high dynamic range image clarity.

According to a company press release, the MegaPX ATM camera is purpose-built for easy installation in ATMs from leading manufacturers. The camera reportedly captures highly detailed video in lighting conditions ranging from direct sunlight to near dark, allowing for easier identification of users by banking investigators and law enforcement.

The MegaPX is ONVIF Profile S compliant and can be deployed seamlessly by institutions to fill a gap in their complete banking surveillance solution, the release said.

"With ATM card data theft at the highest rate seen in two decades in the United States alone, banking organizations are relying more heavily than ever on IP video technologies that can provide clear video evidence to accelerate investigations," said Net Payne, chief marketing officer at March Networks. "This new camera offers financial institutions a way to capture better video at ATMs and advances an area of the banking surveillance ecosystem which, until now, has not kept pace with technology improvements."

The camera is available with a 2.8mm standard lens or 3.7mm pinhole lens, with a field of view that shows ATM users from the waist up. It also auto-corrects images recorded from behind a tinted glass enclosure. All components fit into a housing that measures 2.2 x 2.3 x 2.7 inches (5.6 x 5.8 x 7 cm), and that offers a choice of two mounting brackets that keep the camera firmly in place.

A unique QR code on the camera, readable with a free smartphone app, includes serial code and warranty information. The app also provides how-to video tutorials, product manuals and troubleshooting tools.
