Major networks accredit FIS to certify ATMs, payment terminals for EMV

September 13, 2016

FIS, a provider of financial services technology, has been accredited by Discover, MasterCard and Visa for the certification of EMV on payment devices such as ATMs, kiosks, and mPOS and POS terminals. The company is working with other international and national payment brands to simplify the certification process for EMV, as well, according to a company press release.

Before a new or updated EMV payment terminal may be introduced to the market, it must undergo validation by international or domestic payment brands. This process ensures that a payment transaction travels correctly through the acquiring environment.

The recent FIS accreditation by the payment brands enables the company to bring to the market convenient, high-speed brand certifications on behalf of Discover, MasterCard and Visa, the release said.

"FIS helps us to certify our customer's terminal integration," said Demetrio Scapin, AUI system manager and special project manager at Diners Club Italia. "They manage the full certification process and help prepare in the most optimal conditions for a fast and successful go-to-market."
