Lynk intros realtime ATM reporting service

March 4, 2003

ATLANTA -- Lynk Systems, Inc. has launched a new service it calls DataLynk, which delivers real-time terminal status messages, consumer transaction data and terminal management data over a Virtual Private Network.

According to a news release, DataLynk is unique because it provides the status message data from all ATM terminal types and reduces the need to purchase remote monitoring software from multiple hardware vendors.

DataLynk records and delivers real-time status messages such as card reader error and low cash; consumer transaction data such as withdrawals, inquiries and transfers; and terminal management data such as change of business day and host totals report. The data can be imported to a third party software system, such as e-ClassicSystems' ATM Manager Pro® or a proprietary application.

Lynk is demonstrating the system at this week's ATM Industry Association show, "ATMs in the Americas," in Miami.

"DataLynk has enabled us to consolidate data, regardless of hardware type, into one application," said Jonathan Johnson, vice president of International Merchant Services, Inc. (IMS), the Texas ISO that beta tested DataLynk. "We have always had the transaction information from the processor side, but with DataLynk we have a better picture of what is happening at the terminal without needing to go the extra step of using a remote monitoring program. DataLynk has revolutionized how we service our ATMs because we know what is happening at the terminal now, not hours and hours later."

Johnson said in the release that IMS imports the terminal information from DataLynk into a proprietary ATM management application, which it then redistributes to customers via its own Web site.

"Terminal uptime is a key to success in the ATM business, whether it is hardware, communications or cash issues," said Melanie Chewning, vice president of Lynk's ATM Service Division. "With this real-time information, ISOs can elevate the level of service they provide to their retail clients and improve the bottom line for both organizations."
