Kenyan ISO Pesa Point launches billpay at ATMs

July 21, 2009

Kenya-based ATM ISO Pesa Point on Tuesday launched a new bill-payment service across its fleet of country-wide ATMs. According to an article published by Kenya Broadcasting Corp., Pesa has already signed bill-payment deals with the Higher Education Loans Board, AAR and Wananchi Online.

Pesa Point is an independent ATM network with more than 110 locations and transaction-acquiring relationships with 33 financial institutions.

Pesa Point chief executive Bernard Matthewman says the company expects to open the new bill-payment service to other ATM-acquiring networks in the future:

Through this, Kenyan businesses can build customer loyalty, a more consistent revenue stream and higher visibility as it allows customers to conveniently pay whenever, wherever at Pesa Point ATMs nationwide. ATM usage is all about convenience, and Pesa Point is in pursuit of offering value-added services to its users, not only for cash access but for other possible ATM services — among them being bill-payments, buying airtime, drawing cash as well as other M-PESA transactions.
