KCB trades out piecemeal processing for integrated platform

May 30, 2014

Kenya Commercial Bank, one of the largest banks in the country with more than 150 branches, has launched a new in-house processing center built on TranzWare products from Compass Plus, a provider of retail banking and electronic payments software to processors and FIs.

The move has allowed KCB to replace its previous piecemeal solution with a fully integrated platform in a bid to improve efficiency, performance, flexibility and fault tolerance, a Compass Plus news release said.

To date, the bank has migrated its credit and debit cards to the new system, which was completed at the beginning of 2014. In the second stage of the project, KCB will move its acquiring network, which includes more than 350 ATMs and 3,000 POS terminals, to the TranzWare platform.

“We chose TranzWare because of its reliability, flexibility and the wide range of functionality it offers, which has enabled us to build a state-of-the-art retail banking platform within a short period of time,” said Annastacia Kimtai, director of the retail banking division at KCB. “The collaboration with Compass Plus enables us to look forward with confidence as well as to develop long-term plans that will benefit our customers.”
