In 2012, Jordan Kuwait Bank decided to replace its legacy payments solution to advance its ambitious growth plans — including the eventual expansion of its ATM network. According to a news release, the now-completed upgrade has already resulted in improved ATM uptime.
JKB, which is based in Amman and operates 55 branches across the Middle East, worked with BPC Banking Technologies, a provider of Open System payment solutions, to implement SmartVista transaction processing. The new technology will allow the bank to roll out new products in the field of e-payments, BPC said.
The new system allows the bank to offer a complete range of card products — and rapidly tailor new ones. It also provides for a more cost-effective interface with the international payment systems such as Visa and MasterCard, the release said.
JKB operates a network of 75 ATMs across Jordan and is using SmartVista to control each unit, no matter where it is located. The platform will fully support the bank's ambitious network expansion plans, BPC said.
"The implementation of SmartVista is a very important step that will enable the bank to offer new electronic payment services through various electronic and direct communication channels used at the bank, whether it is at our branches or via our NetBanker, mobile banking and phone banking services or ATM network," said JKB chairman Abdel Karim Kabariti.
