JCB, Union Bank intro contactless card in Taiwan

TOKYO - JCB Co. Ltd., a Japan-based payment brand and credit card issuer and acquirer, is working with JCB International Co. Ltd., JCB's international subsidiary, to launch the Breeze Center JCB Card J/Speedy brand contactless payment program. .
According to a news release, the program is being launched in alliance with Union Bank of Taiwan. The companies say this launch will be the first card with J/Speedy in the world.
"JCB is pleased to launch J/Speedy on the Breeze Center JCB Card, the first card with JCB's global standarized contactless payment solution," said Yuichi Momose, president and general manager of JCBI (Taiwan). "I believe contactless payment is the key for shaping a new era in payments, and JCB is proud to take this first step toward that new era."
J/Speedy is a global standard-based (ISO/IEC 14443) contactless payment solution. It shares Visa Asia Pacific's contactless specification for common merchant acceptance, promoting expansion of the contactless payment infrastructure in the Asia market.
Union Bank has been issuing JCB cards and acquiring JCB card acceptance locations in Taiwan since 2002.
