Jahoda ADA lawsuits: 8 down, 12 to go

Eight ADA civil suits lodged against Pittsburgh-area banks by serial filer Robert Jahoda have now been settled. That leaves a dozen still pending.

Citing court records, an article by Times Online said that, in each settlement, the defending bank had agreed to upgrade machines to ADA regulations, appoint an Americans with Disibilities Act compliance officer, and pay attorney fees and costs. The Times report includes a complete list of banks Jahoda has sued, along with the status of each suit.

Just one FI so far has contested Jahoda's allegations of an ADA violation, the Times said. In its court filing, Standard Bank of Murrysville, Penn., in essence said that it could not respond to Jahoda's claim because it lacked "sufficient information or knowledge" that he was blind.

Standard also said that Jahoda can't challenge the bank's ADA compliance because he attempted only one transaction at only one Standard Bank ATM.
