SAN FRANCISCO -- InnoVentry Corp. plans to install its RPM cash management machines, which utilize Internet and biometric technologies to offer paycheck cashing, in an additional 21 H-E-B Pantry Foods stores in the Houston area.
InnoVentry already has 14 RPMs deployed in H-E-B Pantry Foods locations in and around Houston. RPM is similar in appearance to a conventional ATM, but incorporates a biometric face-recognition system that allows customers to cash checks without a picture ID, bank card or PIN.
"More and more people with checks to cash are coming into our stores for the speed, simplicity and privacy they get when they use RPM," said Michael De La Garza, vice president for public affairs and corporate communications with H-E-B. "It puts cash in their hands when and where they need it."
RPM also can provide conventional ATM functionality, and will soon serve as a platform for the sale of money orders and the delivery of electronic money-transfer and bill-payment services.
In addition, RPM includes a multi-media second screen that delivers customized promotional and educational messages in English and Spanish.
H-E-B operates more than 260 stores in Texas, as well as in Louisiana and Mexico.
