Public sector banks in India have called for bids to install 5,259 ATMs in the neighboring states of Bihar and Jharkhand by March 31, 2014.
The current number is 30 percent higher than the estimated 4,039 ATMs announced in the first week of March, said an article at The Hindu Business Line.
Banks will be allowed to increase their orders by 50 percent, which could bump up the number of ATMs to 7,889, an increase of 95 percent. Banks will be able to place orders under the tender until March 31, 2015.
Bidders for the seven-year contract must take over operation and maintenance services of bank owned ATMs that have been in operation for less than seven years, the article said. This includes the ATM, peripherals, networking and other equipment owned by the banks that supports ATM functionality.
