MONTREAL - Desjardins Group has signed an agreement valued at $20 million with IBM Canada Ltd. to modernize its ATM network to provide new financial services and to support its expansion outside of Quebec.
Under the agreement, IBM will provide 600 ATMs from Wincor Nixdorf that can be tailored to meet the needs of individual Desjardins branches -- called Caisses Desjardins in Quebec. Desjardins will have the flexibility to add new services on an on-demand basis as these services are required by their customers, according to a news release.
The ATMs can be equipped as required with anti-fraud features such as anti-skimming devices, and check image capture technology, which offers customers the benefit of real-time deposits as well as generating operational savings for financial institutions.
The ATMs also meet Canadian accessibility and Interac requirements, according to the release.
