IAD Kontanten launches multi-currency ATM

October 4, 2013

Nordic IAD Kontanten has announced that it is launching multi-currency service in its ATM fleet across a "broad front" during the last quarter of 2014. The company plans to expand the program further through 2014.

The IAD is working on implementation with security and cash handling service provider Nokas. Ultimately the IAD plans to enable 150 of its ATMs for foreign currency sales.

"Kontanten and our CIT-partner Nokas assess that there is a big demand for foreign currency in strategic locations, and that in our markets there is a window of opportunity for ATMs with currency sales," Kontanten CEO Patrick Nordwall said.

Kontanten is based in Stockholm, Sweden, and operates an ATM fleet of about 1,000 units with locations throughout the Nordic market. The company announced earlier this week that it was adding dynamic currency conversion across its entire fleet.
