LONDON -- Hanco ATM Systems, the UK venture of ATM veteran Tom Hannon, has signed an agreement to become the ATM provider of choice for Punch Pubs. The five-year deal could result in as many as 4,000 locations, according to a news release.
The exclusive deal has been structured to enable licensees to place ATMs on their premises with no initial cash outlay. "We've purchased in bulk, which allows us to rent the machines to our licensees at a far lower cost than the going market rate," said Bill Knowles of Punch Pubs.
Tom Lewis, licensee of the Cross Keys in Crewe which has had an ATM installed for more than two months, said he has seen a substantial increase in sales. "We took part in the initial trial and saw the benefits straight away so when PPC started the new scheme, we got involved immediately," Lewis said.
Carl Thomas, Hanco's corporate sales director, said the contract emphasizes the importance of three aspects of Hanco's service: increased in-store sales; merchant control over the system; and the ATMs' ease of installation and operation.
