GUSTAV: Miss. banks learn from Katrina, stock ATMs

The Hattiesburg (Miss.) American:At Trustmark Bank in Hattiesburg, bank president Holt McMullan prepped for the possibility of Tropical Storm Gustav impacting Mississippi by getting the lines of inter-branch communications in order. Another local bank, Hancock Bank, released a statement Thursday assuring customers that its top priorities still included protecting customer data, ensuring customer and employee safety, and providing the financial services necessary for storm preparation. A top priority for most area banks was keeping ATMs up and running, so customers preparing could prepare for the storm by making cash withdrawals.
