GRG Banking Equipment Co., Ltd., China's largest ATM manufacturer, has opened GRG R&D Academy, China's first ATM research and development academy. GRG Banking opened the school and research center to raise the global competitiveness of China's ATM industry, company officials said.
"The new academy is expected to further enhance the core technological competence of GRG Banking and to push forward the technological innovation in currency recognition and processing areas," company officials added.
The academy includes a research and development center office, institute of ATM, institute of ATM security, institute of basic research, institute of software research and a test center. The facility takes up 4,000 square meters, and it employs 1,800 technicians and 400 senior researchers. Dai Ruwei is the research and development academy's chief scientist.
GRG Banking, which is based in Guangzhou, China, has applied for more than 153 domestic and international patents as of June.
