Global Payments, AmEx roll out OptBlue in Canada

The program provides one settlement process and one point of contact for all major card brands, including American Express.

May 13, 2015

American Express has announced the launch of OptBlue in Canada, with payment technology services provider Global Payments as the first participant, according to a press release.

OptBlue is a one-stop servicing solution that allows participants to provide small merchants the benefit of a single statement, one settlement process and one point of contact for all major card brands, including American Express.

Additionally, participants will be able to determine merchant pricing as well as provide payment processing and servicing. The program is limited to eligible Canadian small merchants that have a projected American Express charge volume of less than $500,000 per year.

"We are delighted to be the first to offer OptBlue to our network of small merchants," Global Payments President Rene Belanger said in the release. "OptBlue provides a rich opportunity for us to grow and expand our network and engage with merchants that may have never accepted American Express products before."
