SAN DIEGO – A $4.8 million contract has been awarded to Global Axcess Corp. (OTCBB:GLXS) to provide ATMs for an East Coast gasoline and convenience store chain, according to a Global Axcess news release. The company, formerly known as NetHoldings.com Inc., will install, service and maintain at least 200 ATMs at Cumberland Farms convenience stores as part of the five-year deal. The rollout begins immediately and is expected to be complete by the end of 2001.
Global Axcess also announced that it has requested a five-day extension on filing its 10-Q report to the Securities and Exchange Commission for the period ended June 30, 2001. James Collins, chief executive officer, said that part of the reason for the delay is the accounting for the company's recent acquisitions. In June, Global Axcess acquired a San Diego-based owner and operator of ATMs, IFT Financial Group. In July it acquired another ATM firm, Nationwide Money Services of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
Cumberland Farms, based in Canton, Mass., operates more than 1,000 gasoline and convenience stores on the East Coast.
