Gemalto, Vipps team up to secure digital wallets

Digital security player Gemalto and Vipps, the Nordic region's largest payment and identification company, are partnering on a secure digital turnkey solution for NFC proximity payment, QR and e-commerce.

According to a press release, the technology will offer secure payment services to retailers, private-label issuers and domestic schemes via an end-to-end secure cloud service compatible with all digital wallets.

"This agreement represents a milestone for us, and it demonstrates that we are world leading in this area," Vipps CEO Rune Garborg said in the release. "Our self-developed solution will be fueling the payment industry of the future. I am very proud that we have become a preferred partner to one of the most important companies in the world of digital security."
