Fujitsu to buy Appian's multi-monitor graphic cards

March 6, 2002

REDMOND, Wash. --  Japan's Fujitsu Limited's Financial Transaction Systems Division is buying Appian Graphics multi-monitor graphics cards for their FACT-V ATMs.

Fujitsu will purchase the boards from Seiko Industry Co., Ltd., Appian's Japanese distributor.

Fujitsu's FACT-V ATM houses two displays. The first display is an external TFT digital flat-panel screen accessed by the customer during transactions. The second is an internal DSTN low-resolution screen used by maintenance or bank personnel. Using one card to power both screens on a Windows NT-based system reduces maintenance and compatibility issues.

The company plans to ship 33,000 FACT-V ATMs over the next five years to major Japanese cities.

Reliability was a major consideration in choosing Appian, said Takashi Fujimura, the general Manager of Fujitsu's Financial Division.

Fujitsu's share of the Japanese ATM market is reported to be approximately 30 percent, with an installed base of 50,000 machines. And, according to Jon Peddie Associates' April 1999 multi-monitor study, Appian controls nearly half the multiple monitor industry.
