FSS launches biometric ATM solution in India

November 5, 2006

HYDERABAD, India - Chennai, India-based Financial Software and Systems Ltd., provider of electronic payment systems and services, has announced the launch of its Biometric ATM Interface Solution. The solution enables connectivity of ATMs in India with biometric support to electronic financial transaction switches, according to a news release.

Biometric ATM works with ATMs that have enhanced support for biometric solutions and eliminates the need for PIN entry by authenticating customer transactions through thumb-impressions. A simplified menu on ATMs, coupled with possible audio guidance in local languages, enable easy use for literacy-challenged users in rural areas.

"Banks are looking at ways of enhancing micro-financing and are taking initiatives for financial inclusion," said Nagaraj Mylandla, FSS's managing director. "ATMs with biometric support make it easier for people in rural areas to withdraw cash."
